Zahnmediziner empfehlen, Zahnbürsten häufiger auszutauschen. Alle drei Monate sollte ein Wechsel fällig sein. Der Grund: abgenutzte Zahnbürsten können nicht nur das Zahnfleisch schädigen, sie verlieren auch massiv an Putzkraft. Bis zu einem Drittel mehr Belag entfernt eine neue Zahnbürste im Vergleich zu einer drei Monate alten Kollegin. Laut Statistik benutzen die Deutschen jedoch nur 1,5 Zahnbürsten im Jahr. Noch trauriger ist die Bilanz bei elektrischen Bürsten: Gerade einmal 0,6 der Aufsteckbürsten werden in einem Jahr ausgewechselt.
